Our
time with our little ones goes by so quickly. One day they seem to be young and
dependent next day they are big, mature with a mind of their own. Even though
I'm still raising young kids I cannot believe how much they have grown.
Here are some tips that I have found to be helpful:
1. Have a daily schedule for your kids- the days when I have a schedule my
life flows way better, activities go by much more smoothly. On the days when I
allow them to roam the house with no purpose and structure, its chaotic and
frustrating. Kids thrive on structure. It is also important to include them in
these plans as well.
2. Have them write down their goals-The principles we have for our own life
and career should be the same principles we pass on to our little ones. Take
time to sit with them and discuss your goals for them and have them set goals
for themselves. Now that Kaity is 8 we intend to include her in our family goal
planning discussions.
3. Detach and assess when they are misbehaving. As parents we tend to react
to our kids behaviors out of anger and frustration vs taking a deeper look into
what’s causing the behavior. What I have found is, little kids act up when they
are exhausted or frustrated. Older kids act up when they believe they do not
have a voice. As parents and caregivers it is important to take a step back to
assess the behavior.
These are three points that’s I find to be helpful. Please share your
parenting tips.
