ATTITUDE THATS STIFLING YOUR GROWTH

Growing up in a Christian home I always heard the biblical story of the man who gave talents to his servants. To one he gave ten talents, the other five and the other one. Then he left for a business trip. The servant with ten talents invested and got ten more, the one with five also invested and doubled his money. The one with one talent never invested or did anything instead he buried it.

I can break this story down many ways but here is one of my biggest take away:

Recognize when your in the presence of greatness. There are times when we are placed in the presence of greatness and we are surrounded by people who are excellent at what they do. They have the skillset and are often times open to mentoring us. Instead of being coachable, instead of recognizing the opportunity to learn from the best we withdraw and seek the comforts of our own insecurities. This tends to manifest itself in us gossiping and complaining. In the end we loose the chance of being mentored.

Back to the story, the guy with one talent could have learned a great lesson in investing from his peers, instead his bitterness cost him his net worth.
